Who We Support
Seeking Funding
We provide grants to organisations which improve the physical and mental well-being of older vulnerable people in Bristol and the surrounding areas to enhance their quality of life and alleviate loneliness and social isolation.
Our grants are either provided direct to those organisations or co-ordinated through BOPFA (Bristol Older People’s Funding Alliance) and its members.
Direct grants are typically in the region of £1,000 to £10,000 and average c£5,000.
Although direct grants are provided for a specific project or to fund a service/activity for a one-year period, they are usually given with the intention of supporting that organisation for three years provided it delivers the desired impact. After the initial three-year period, supported organisations are expected to seek funding from a wider group of funders.
Applications for direct grants are open from 1st to 28th February each year and are reviewed by the Trustees in March. Applicants will be advised whether they are successful or not shortly after that meeting and successful applicants will be asked to sign a Letter of Grant to confirm the terms of funding before monies are transferred.

Joint funding from BOPFA members is available to meet larger funding requirements. Members of BOPFA take proposals that would be suitable for joint funding to the group for consideration. BOPFA is currently focussing on its funding priorities and will be sharing more about this in due course.
